| Hathaway
Lake is a recreation lake situated in the heart
of Interlakes Highway Country near the village of Lone Butte which
is located east of the community of 100 Mile House, British Columbia,
Canada. Hathaway lake is part of a tight-knit, four lake series
of fishing lakes which includes Sulphurous, Deka and Apollo Lakes.
The
Interlakes Highway region is also referrred to as the "Fishing
Highway" because of the hundreds of recreational lakes found
in the region. The lakes are all connected by a series of back
country gravel roads and hiking trails leading away from the main
paved highways. Hathaway Lake is one of the easier fishing lakes
to access as it is located on one of the main gravel roads in
the region - Mahood Lake FSR (Forest Service Road).
Fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, atving, dirt biking, wind
surfing, wildlife viewing and camping are just a few of the activities
enjoyed on the many lakes and gravel roads in the Interlakes region.
However on Hathaway Lake fishing, canoeing and boating are the
only activities permitted and enjoyed. There is no camping facilites
on the lake, however there are a few resorts on the lake.
The
lake is stocked with Rainbow and Lake Trout. Most who fish the
lake say trolling is the best form of fishing on the lake. While
others say fly fishing and spincasting works for them. Some fish
the lake and stay at one of the resorts nearby. Others stay in
a nearby wilderness campground and access the lake from the public
boat launch located on the west side of the lake in the day use
picnic site.
Some of the other nearby fishing lakes to Hathaway Lake include
Bowers, Needa, French, Lorin and Howard Lakes.
Some of the popular trails in the area include the Donnely Lake,
Canim-Mahood Falls and Deception
Falls Hiking Trails.
