Medby Rock Trail is a moderate hike following a branch road, single

Flats is
a natural wildlife estuary located west of the community
of Bella Coola. The estuary sits where the Bella Coola River and
ocean tides of the North Bentinck Arm converge thus creating large
slivers of sand flats and exposed reeds ideal for birdwatching

a rugged, wilderness park divided into two parts - a North and
South Tweedsmuir Park covering over 981,000 hectares. Activities

Walker
Island Park & Snootli Creek is
a wilderness park with hiking and mountain biking trails, a beaver
pond, big cedar trees, Snootli Creek, rodeo grounds and a ball diamond
located east of the community of Bella Coola, BC in a forest of
old growth cedar trees, sitka spruce and cottonwood trees. [

Wishing
Well is
a curious and special find located in a hidden clump
of trees on the side of Highway 20 opposite the Tidal Flats and
the Alexander MacKenzie Monument west of the community of Bella
Coola, BC, Canada. The little enclave is a local Wishing Well with
a small waterfall, pond and sitting benches. [

| Lost
Lake Trail is
a short, easy grade, 2 kilometre hiking trail up the southern base
of the 1871 metre Saloompt Mountain to a small lake and some scenic
views and fishing. There is a small wilderness campsite with pit
toilets at the lake. The trail is used by both mountain bikers and
hikers. Be bear aware. |
| Saloompt
Forest Trail is
a series of short interpretive, easy grade, hiking loop trails east
of Hagensborg, BC. The hiking-only routes include the Old Forest,
River and Discovery Interpretive Trails. Trails explore spawning
rivers, CMTs (Culturally Modified Trees) old remnants of an early
homestead, a 835 year old Douglas Fir tree and a 585 Spruce tree.

| Alexander
MacKenzie Heritage Trail is
a historic 420 kilometre hiking, horseback riding, backpacking,
mountain biking and cross country skiing trail connecting Blackwater
(east trailhead - located north of Quesnel, BC) with Bella Coola
on the coast. The trail explores the Chilcotin
Valley following old logging roads, rivers and some of the
same paths first used by the First Nations people as trading routes.
Alexander MacKenzie, the first European, pieced the trail together
creating an east-west Canadian passage to the Pacific Ocean. A feat
he accomplished in 1793. |
| Odegaard
Falls Trail is
a short 2 kilometre hiking trail that places you close to the bottom
of the waterfall. The trailhead is located 1 kilometre prior to
the Odegaard Falls Recreation Site at the Nusatsum River Recreation
Site. At the campsite there are views of the Nusatsum River carving
through a canyon and the trailhead to the falls. Be bear aware. |
M.
Gurr Lake and Trail is
a 1 kilometre (one way), easy grade, hiking trail leading to a
small lake at an elevation of 4000 metres near Clayton Pass. The
trailhead is located on a 19 kilometre 4x4 gravel road situated
west of the community of Bella Coola, BC. The trail provides views
of the beautiful coastal mountains. This is a day use trail only,
no camping. |
| Gray
Jay Lake Trail is
an, easy grade, 2 kilometre one-way hiking trail to a small lake
and a viewpoint with a picnic table and views of Bentinck Arm and
the Coastal Mountain Ranges. The trailhead is
located on the west side of Blue Jay Lake which is on a 26 kilometre
4x4 gravel road situated west of the community of Bella Coola, BC.
The trail explores wetlands, alpine forests and meadows leading
to a viewpoint. |
