| Alexis Creek , BC, Canada is a small service town located 113 kilometres (68 mi.) from Williams Lake on Highway 20 in the Chilcotin Grasslands region of British Columbia, Canada. The region of rolling hills is surrounded by lakes and farmlands, some reaching far into the backcountry - all connected by an extensive network of gravel roads. The small community is one of the service centres located along the long stretches of uninterrupted scenery when exploring Highway 20. The RCMP (police) and the Red Cross operate stations in Alexis Creek. In town, is a few buildings and a restaurant. 14 kilometres south of Alexis Creek on the Anaham First Nation lands is a gas station and a general store. Further in the backcountry is a good selection of campgrounds, provincial parks and wilderness campsites. People arrive in the Alexis Creek region for the backcountry adventures. Adventures like fishing, wilderness camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing and offroading in the summer. Snowmobiling, ice fishing and cross country skiing in the winter. The many recreational lakes and provincial parks in the region tend to attract allot of attention. Some of the parks to consider exploring when near Alexis Creek, BC include the Bull Canyon, Nazko Lake and White Pelican Provincial Parks. As, for Forestry Wilderness Campsites there is the Two Lakes, MacKill Lake, Palmer Lake and Alexis Lakes recreation Sites. When driving to the Alexis Creek area, it is wise to take some time out and plan a side trip to Riske Creek and Farewell Canyon . It is about 20 kilometres south of Riske Creek and at the half way mark to Alexis Creek. Farewell Canyon is a sightseeing must consisting of amazing views of the mighty Chilcotin River, mountain goats, sandstone cliffs, First Nation pictographs and some amazing hoodoo formations. Some explorers arrive in Alexis Creek to fish the
remote lakes in the region, while others seek out the rivers.
Transportation to the remote destinations can vary. Many lakes
connect to the gravel road network but some of the adventure lake
destinations require hiking, horseback riding or even a floatplane
to access. Some of the lakes to, maybe, plan for include Two Lakes,
Haines Lake, Beaver Lake, MacKill Lake and Alexis Lake.
