| Nimpo Lake , BC, Canada is a resort destination located 297 kilometres (184 mi.) west of Williams Lake on Highway 20 in the Chilcotin Grasslands region of British Columbia, Canada. Nimpo Lake is situated at the doorstep of many remote recreational lakes, the Tweedsmuir Provincial Park and the Charlotte Alplands Protected Area. The main businesses operating in Nimpo Lake consists of a grocery store, bakery, post office, restaurant, repair shop and gas station. The backcountry gravel roads leading away from Highway 20 near Nimpo Lake lead to a series of fly fishing resorts and wilderness campsites. The backcountry, in and around, Nimpo Lake is also good for hiking, boating, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing and wildlife viewing. In the winter snowmobiling becomes a very popular recreational activity while exploring the gravel roads and trails in the region. In the backcountry around Nimpo Lake is a good selection of fly-in fishing resorts. Many of the resorts operate a floatplane service so to access remote locations for fishing like Hunlen Falls, Blackwater River, Dean River and some lakes located in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. Some resorts have pre made fly-in camps already set up on remote lakes ready for fly fishing adventurers. Most resorts operate from a base camp on a nearby fly-in or drive to lake. The lake resorts usually provide meals, accommodations, entertainment, fishing gear, equipment, transportation and lessons. Accommodations vary at each resort with some in the form of lodges, inns and/or cottages. The wilderness country around Nimpo Lake is also home to many hiking and backpacking adventures. Many of the trails are accessed best from gravel logging roads. Some of the hiking and backpacking routes in the region include the Kappen Mountain, Lt. Palmer, Dean River, Rimarto Ranch and Maydoe Creek Trails. The network of backroads in the region also lead
to a series of remote lakes with no resorts but with wilderness
campsites. Campsites with no amenities but a pit toilet and, maybe,
a picnic table. Wilderness campsites operate on a pack in - pack
out system, leave nothing behind. Some of the wilderness sites
in the area include the Dean River, Kappen Lake and Charlotte
Lake Recreation Sites.
