| Fountain
(Kwotlenemo) Lake is a very popular destination
for many who explore the region around the community of Lillooet,
British Columbia, Canada. Fountain Lake, also referred to by the
local First Nation people as Kwotlenemo Lake, is part of the Three
Valley Chain which includes the Chilhil and Cinquefoil Lakes.
The three lakes attract plenty of outdoor enthusiasts to the
area. Most arrive at Fountain Lake in the summer months to enjoy
a day or many days fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing,
horseback riding, boating, swimming, picnicking, hiking and camping
in the lake region.
Fountain Lake is the busiest recreational lake out of the three
in the Three Valley Chain during the summer months. The four wilderness
recreation campsites located on the lake have allot to do with
that... as many people arrive with campers, trailers, Rvs and
tents for multi day stays.
The campsites vary depending on which campground one picks. Some
sites enjoy camping on the lake shore while others are private
in the trees. There is a north, west, east and south campground
on the lake. Each with access to boat launches, some rougher than
others. Only canoes, kayaks and small electric motor boats permitted
on the lakes.
The southern campground is the largest one of the four. All four
campgrounds are paying campgrounds with each campsite providing
a fire ring, a picnic table and access to pit toilets.
Many arrive to the lakes to fish and camp. The lake is best fished
trolling the waters. Fountain Lake is stocked with rainbow trout.
