Sport Fishing: There is plenty of opportunity to fish lakes, rivers and ocean when exploring the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast region in British Columbia, Canada. In fact, you will be glad to hear the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast region has some of the the highest concentration of lakes in the province, some of our most powerful rivers and is also one of the regions that accesses the west coast and the Pacific Ocean.

The lakes and rivers in the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast provide some of BC's finest fresh water fishing destinations. There are remote lakes connected by rivers and creeks.. surrounded by desert hills, rolling grasslands, forests and alpine meadows.

At some fresh water fishing destinations paved roads lead right up to a boat launch. Other remote fishing destinations require a drive up and down a bumpy 4x4 road in order to reach a lake with a gravel roof top boat launch. And there are lakes and rivers that require hiking a trail with rod and reel tucked away in a backpack.

Fly fishing, trolling or casting from a pier on the lakes and rivers in the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast provides an opportunity to catch rainbow trout, dolly varden, brook trout, bull trout, white fish, kokanee and steelhead. Saltwater fish found in the large spawning rivers of the region includes salmon.

On the west coast of the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast boaters leave from the marina situated on the ocean shores of Bentinck Arm in the community of Bella Coola. From the marina fishing charters and recreational fishing boats leave in the morning to fish the quiet bays, coves and river inlets, while navigating fjords and various weather conditions, in anticipation of fishing for salmon and halibut.

In the region there are marinas, stores, piers and open water moorage opportunities on th elakes and ocean. Some remote lakes provide nothing and you must be self sufficient. Some lakes have engine restrictions for small aluminum boats and canoes with eco friendly outboard motors. All lakes and rivers require a fishing license in order to fish in BC, Canada.

Many of the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast communities have fishing charters, guides and lodges. Some individual charter companies operate as day guides providing gear and expertise. Longer fishing adventures lead to remote lakes and accommodations in fishing camps. Then there are remote lake and river fishing lodges providing comfort and adventure with fishing guides, lessons, gear, transportation, accommodations, entertainment and meals.

Some of the more popular fresh water fishing destinations in the Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast region are the lakes along the Fishing Highway - Interlakes region surrounding 100 Mile House and Lone Butte, BC. Then there is the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers plus the Bowron Chain of Lakes, Tzenzaicut and Bouchie Lakes near the community of Quesnel.

In Williams Lake some of the popular destinations include Quesnel and Horsefly Lakes. Then there is the fly-in remote fishing lodges on the lakes in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park serviced from Nimpo Lake and Anahim Lake operating near Highway 20.

Then there are the lakes near the community of Lillooet, BC, many accessed via backcountry gravel roads and some by paved roads. The fresh water fishing lakes in the region worth noting include the Tyaughton, Gun, McDonald, Carpenter, Anderson, Fountain and Seton Lakes.
